Who we are
In 2006, one of our members went to Toronto and was part of the first ever African and Canadian grandmothers gathering. Deeply moved by the plight of the African grandmothers and their families, she returned to the Sunshine Coast and had coffee with three friends. Our local group was born!
Supporters soon joined from Pender Harbour to Langdale, and fundraising and awareness-raising was undertaken with energy and commitment.
We hold to certain principles:
Our membership is open and flexible.
We do what we can when we can.
Thinking of the deprivations and suffering of our African partners, we "will not rest until they can rest."

Our group is part of the Greater Van Gogos, a network of Southwestern BC Grandmother groups. To find out more about this organization go to greatervangogos.org
